Launched in 2001, the .NAME domain name extension is the only one planned for personal websites only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are known by. At first, solely third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to reserve john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered third-level domains remained online.

You will be able to alter the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an active domain to our company if you receive its EPP transfer authorization code from the current domain provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular restrictions on who can register a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the goal behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration may be challenged.
